Bordure cycling leads to fantastic Tour de France stage 3 results for Columbia-HTC and Armstrong

When its windy on the Tour Bordure cycling by a team can lead to surprising results, and so it did today as Mark Cavendish of Great Britain and his teammates from Columbia-HTC took control of the Tour de France.

The cycling tactic known "bordure" basically means that cyclist form a shield like wedge that allows them to ride into gusty winds at a fast pace.

Columbia-HTC took control of the Tour de France today using this tactic to stage a breakaway.

"St3 done - gnarly! Crosswinds all day and a group snuck off in the last 25k behind Columbia/HTC's tempo. I was lucky enough 2 b there," Lance Armstrong wrote on Twitter as he gained precious time in todays stage 3 race to move up to third place in the GC standings.
